| AUTOMOBILE Interstate Access: U.S. Route 36 provides east-west access through Mount Vernon, and U.S. Route 62 passes through the eastern portion of the county. Interstate 71 is just northwest of the county boundary and is accessible from Mount Vernon via State Routes 13 & 95, as well as, 229 by a connection with State Route 61. Primarily, access through the county is provided by State Routes 13 (north-south), 229 (east-west), and 3 (southwest-northeast).
